Hooking is a traditional craft that developed as a way of turning old fabric into domestic folk-art. Using a special 'hook', strips of fabric are woven onto a Hessian base to create colourful rag rugs and wall hangings.
Inspired by a trip to Nova Scotia, Vanessa Ferry began hooking more than a decade ago and has since had several exhibitions of her work. She likes to experiment with different types of fabric making cushions as well as rugs.
